The News -
We the undersigned organisations condemn unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms the multiple terror attacks in Mumbai.
The wanton disregard for innocent lives and the devastating destruction caused by such senseless acts of violence is an outrage and cannot be condoned. There can be no excuse or rationale for such brutal acts, whatever the cause. No religion promotes and permits violence on innocent lives whatsoever: and equally, no religion should be blamed for violence carried out by individuals.
It is of grave concern that this situation can escalate into community violence. The flames of hatred should not be fanned or allowed to destroy the spirit of peace in the country.
We express our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the people of India. Our concerns and thoughts are with all those affected, irrespective of religion or caste, during this tragic time. As the nation mourns and we all are outraged by the tragedy, we pray that reason prevails and that grief and anger does not give way to further senseless violence.
We call for the swift arrest of the culprits and perpetrators, whosoever they maybe. We call on the government of India to move swiftly to quell any outbreak of violence against any community. We call on the diverse communities of India to work together in harmony to prevent the nation from descending into anarchy.
