Natural Solutions for Dandruff Print

Dandruff can irritate the scalp with itchiness, skin flaking and social embarrassment. Many causes have been suggested, including: diet, stress, cold weather, poor health, hair products and the oil-eating fungus Malassezia.

Some natural solutions which may work for you:
  • Many natural anti dandruff shampoos contain tea tree oil. It is a powerful antibiotic, antiseptic and antifugal agent.

  • Zinc helps regulate oil glands, promotes healing and supports the immune system.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids support normal skin functioning and may protect against dandruff. It is primarily found in cold water fish, walnuts and oils of canola, soybean, flax and hempseed.

  • B vitamins are important for healthy hair. Ingest them via dark leafy greens, whole grains, soya beans, avocados and bananas.

  • Acupuncture improves circulation and thus helps treat dandruff.


Fruit & Vegetable Juice

Improving your skin health assists in treating dandruff. A study in the 2012 issue of Skin Pharmacology and Physiology showed that fruit and vegetable concentrates can improve skin health. Skin microcirculation, which is responsible for circulating oxygen and nutrients to the skin, improves, resulting in positive changes in skin density, thickness and hydration.
